Complete dentures are removable dental appliances that are designed to replace all of the teeth in a dental arch. At Summit Denture Clinic, this appliance is custom-designed to fit comfortably and securely. It is held in place by suction or using a dental adhesive.
Dentures and Oral Health
Complete dentures replace all of the oral tissues, including gums, palate, and teeth. Partial dentures are for those patients that have some remaining healthy teeth. Complete dentures are removable for cleaning. They are held in place by a combination of suction and muscles.
Are Complete Dentures Right for Me?
Complete dentures are removable dental appliances that are worn to replace all teeth on the upper and/or lower jaw. Complete dentures are a common treatment choice for patients that have lost all or most of their teeth due to tooth decay or periodontal disease.
Complete dentures are designed using impressions of the upper and lower jaws. The final appliances are custom designed to fit snugly against your gum tissue and jawbone. Complete dentures are typically held in place by natural suction or with denture adhesive.
How Complete Dentures Are Made?
First, we will discuss the aesthetics of your dentures. Commonly, complete dentures are crafted from a gum-colored acrylic base. The denture base is shaped to look like gums and fits securely over the gums. The base of your dentures will be designed to fit well. That way, your dentures will not slide out of place or cause any discomfort. The top portion of the denture is designed to fit over any remaining teeth. The back of the denture will hug the gum line. After any necessary adjustments are made, you will walk out the door with a brand new smile!
How Are Complete Dentures Held in Place?
Complete dentures are held in your mouth by being clipped onto the remaining teeth. The dentist takes impressions of your mouth and then a dental lab creates your custom dentures. A soft lining is placed inside of the denture, and this lining rests against the gums.
The Benefits of Complete Dentures
When all of your teeth are missing, it can lead to all sorts of problems. Not only will you lose your ability to chew, but your face and jaw will sag, making you appear older. Complete dentures are designed to restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile. They can also enhance the appearance of your face and jaw, giving you a more youthful appearance.
